Flag craft

We’ve been getting crafty lately – aren’t our popsicle stick flags cute?

The paci fairy finally made an appearance at our house on Friday night.  And yes, it was way past time – and even so, Mike still wasn’t pleased that we were finally pulling the plug – so to speak.  We found all the pacis in the house, including two of Bo’s that I saved from when he was a baby.  The paci fairy didn’t visit him when he originally broke the habit – he threw them in the trash – so she was nice enough to bring him a gift as well.  (She’s a good fairy…)  After we’d gathered the paci’s we boxed them up, wrapped them, and put them on the fireplace.  Clara and I had a very intense conversation about the situation in which she said with such seriousness, “I’m going to miss my paci.”  The girls did have some trouble falling asleep and calming down at bedtime.  Once they fell asleep, Clara had a crying jag, and they were up a couple times during the night – but that isn’t abnormal.   We’ve officially made the jump with relatively little drama.  Now at their dentist appointment in a few weeks I can say with a straight face that they don’t take pacis.  And I don’t have to keep track of them any more either!

Clara flag painting

Clara’s newest cute expression is calling Anna and Bo “kiddo”.  “Here’s a Lego, Kiddo!”  “Come here, Kiddo!”  “Are you okay, Kiddo?”  I didn’t realize we used that term so much – but apparently we do… ;)  She also randomly calls Anna “Princess Anna.”  I’m thinking I should be worried.

When we came home from a playdate at the mall recently, Bo was recounting our day to Mike and told him excitedly – “And there was an Angry Birds game at the mall.  You need to give me some green cash money to spend at the mall!” I’d told him I didn’t have money for the game.  I think we’ve read The Berenstein Bears “Trouble with Money” a few too many times!

While Mike and I were running our garage sale, Abby took our kiddos out into the neighborhood “hunting for treasures.”  Mike and I each gave them a dollar and couldn’t wait to see what they brought home.  Clara found a baby Pooh Bear that is one of her new “babies”.  Anna came home with a new book and four bouncy balls.  Bo found an old school Jurassic Park vehicle after a lot of struggle finding something he wanted.

One evening recently I was setting the table for dinner and telling Mike about our day.  I was telling Mike about an accident that Clara had that day and ended with “Yeah, it was great!!”  Bo piped up, “But Mommy, you don’t like when Clara has an accident.”  I replied, “No, I don’t.” He asked, “Then why did you say it was great?”  I proceeded to try to explain sarcasm to my four year old.  I think the concept is still lost on him.

Bo painting

Bo’s latest verbage of choice, “Alright, alright!” in response to any of my demands.  “Bo, go clean up your room.”  – “Alright, alright!” “Bo, get out the placemats.” “Alright, alright.”  You’ve got to drag out the syllables and make it sound like I’m asking him to climb a mountain to fully appreciate this one.
